1. Scope

This notice applies to static pages served from https://selectview.vip and describes what data could be involved when you read our articles, adjust cookie preferences, or send a message. It is not a substitute for legal counsel if you need advice about regulated data categories inside your own organization.

2. Data we intentionally collect

2.1 Contact emails you initiate

If you email support@selectview.vip, your message and message headers (including your address) arrive in our mailbox provider. We use that content only to respond or to keep a narrow internal record when a correction trail is needed. We do not request sensitive categories such as health data, financial account numbers, or government identifiers.

2.2 Cookie preference storage

When you choose Accept or Decline on the cookie banner, we store a short text value in localStorage in your browser so the banner does not reappear on every visit. Declining still stores the decline choice unless you clear site data. You can reopen the banner from the footer link labeled “Cookie preferences.”

3. Data we do not run on this static site

This repository does not embed a first-party analytics dashboard, remarketing pixel, or account login system. If we add measurement tools in the future, this page will name each vendor, list purposes, and link to appropriate opt-out guidance before the tools load.

4. Hosting and technical logs

Any website on the public web sits behind infrastructure that may create server logs (for example IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested path). Those logs are controlled by the hosting provider you configure at deploy time. Choose a provider whose retention settings match your compliance targets; we cannot describe a specific provider here because static files can be hosted in many environments.

5. Legal bases (GDPR framing)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for operating a secure informational site, consent for the optional cookie preference memory, and pre-contractual steps or contract only if you correspond with us about a documented business relationship. We do not sell personal data as a line of business.

6. Retention

Email threads are kept only as long as needed to complete the conversation or document a published correction. LocalStorage values persist until you remove them via browser controls. Server log retention depends on your hosting configuration.

7. International transfers

Mail providers and hosting companies may process data in multiple countries. Review their data processing agreements if you require standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

8. Your rights

Depending on jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact support@selectview.vip for privacy requests; we may need reasonable evidence that a request maps to messages we actually hold.

9. Children

The site is aimed at adults and older teens studying software practice. It is not directed at young children, and we do not knowingly solicit data from them.

10. Updates

When this policy changes meaningfully, we adjust the effective date and summarize the change near the top of the page for a reasonable period.
